Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the requirements for being a cat sitter on Cat Minder?

To become a cat sitter, you must be 18 years old and pass our identity verification process. You should also possess a genuine love for cats, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to providing quality, compassionate care.

How much should I charge for cat sitting?

You are in total control over your rates. You can charge as much or as little as you want, offer discounts, and negotiate with pet owners. When setting your rates, consider your experience, what other cat sitters of your same calibre are charging, and what services you offer. You can always adjust your rates as you gain more experience and build your portfolio.

How do payments work?

All payments are securely processed through our platform and deposited directly into the bank account you provide during registration. Cat owners are required to pay upfront. You’ll receive your payment after the job is complete. In the event of a cancellation, the pet owner will receive a refund minus your fees and services or deposit based on Cat Minder’s cancellation policy.

How do cancellations work?

Both cat sitters and pet owners on Cat Minder are encouraged to provide plenty of notice when cancelling a service. Reservations cancelled without adequate notice will be subject to a small fee.

Can I pick and choose which cat sitting jobs I accept?

Yes! This is the beauty of Cat Minder. All cat sitters have the power to accept or decline any job based on their schedule, location, and other factors. We recommend being polite and professional and responding in adequate time so pet owners can make other arrangements.

What happens if there’s an emergency?

Most cat owners will provide contact information for their veterinarian and preferred emergency facility. We recommend discussing any health concerns or issues with the pet owner prior to the start date. Cat Minder also provides guidance and support for handling certain emergency situations.

Does Cat Minder offer training for new sitters?

Most cat sitters are genuine cat lovers with cats of their own. If you’re interested in gaining more knowledge and expertise, Cat Minder provides access to online resources, webinars, and informative articles and advice from other experienced sitters.
